Today I am 17 years sober. 17 means overcoming the enemy and complete victory.
I no longer need to tuck my past away in a neat little box and act like it did not happen. Overcompensating with accomplishments hoping it might disappear. This does not help anyone by the way including yourself. Even if (whoever) does not approve or is embarrassed by your actions and words to tell the truth, “Let it Go” 🙄. Shame is not yours to carry. It is theirs. Condemning a person or their circumstances with shame, disgrace and humiliation has got to stop.
My hope for anyone out there struggling is that they do not hide or let shame overrun. That silence and isolation is what kills and keeps us sick.
Compassion and Love is what is needed most by those who are suffering. 🌸🌸🌸

Yes, that is me 9mnths pregnant!
I love beauty, I love elegance, I am creative, and I love to create. I have also dimmed my light to make others feel better, to not offend them. I was trained to mistrust, hide, and abandon myself in order to keep others comfortable. What sobriety has given me and what I have learned is that dimming my light serves no one. Not even those who are offended and have opinions.
So, for everyone who has been made to feel “too much” it’s time to turn your light back on. You were not made to dim Gods light.
